The storied ingredients of times past,
. . . which give rise to our lives of today.

Hollywood is so ‘made up” and just can’t compare to the real history right beside us within our own family. My mother Gail Campbell had completed years of family research and was thinking about writing a family history book just before we unexpectedly lost her.

We lost all the stories, the history, and the commentary along with her, which only added heartache to the sorrow.

My sister and I decided to save some of the family history along with some of the family recipes that had been passed down by building a family cookbook. Not just a recipe book, but a book full of the stories behind the food along with commentary on our lives and how the food affected them. This is for fun and our grandchildren.

Together, we took a wonderfully fun LBCC (Linn Benton Community College) class here in Albany, OR, taught by Sharon Levine Waldman who is a skilled Personal Historian. I really enjoyed the family stories of the other class members. Everyone has history, or we wouldn't be here. Sharon’s expertise and heartfelt love of family history stressed the folly of procrastination; something my sister and I had learned with sadness. This was the spark we needed. I hope this site will spark you to save some delicious family history for your progeny.

We also discovered tons of great resources which we felt could be of immense help to anyone else wanting to do what we were doing. This website is a start at consolidating some of these resources.

Good luck. And always; have fun.
