Family Cookbooks

Laurie Stansiuk has done a really wonderful job compiling a book full of quick and easy meals. I know; you’re thinking, “Just another list of burgers and potato-tots recipes.” But these are recipes she worked to streamline and shorten for ‘real’ food easily shopped for. Laurie had so much fun creating this book, she branched out into books on vegetarian meals and breakfasts all in that same concept of fast ‘real’ food. Amish Friendship Bread is like a delicious chain letter. When someone mentions the Amish many think plain clothes and religion. But I see family closeness and traditions; especially baking. I like food and my wife is a quilter so both of us come into contact with this unique culture. Religion aside, many of these recipes are traditional to many generations and wonderful. I was surprised just how many traditional Amish foods are the basis for recipes we take for granted today. 65 Tried and True Traditional Amish Recipes is a delicious hardcover book and I would call it a family cookbook.
